Rules of Contribution
The Merrily We Roll Along wiki is a space made for categorizing the vast amounts of information of its source material.
Rules of behavior
- Under no circumstances is it okay for a contributor to exhibit racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, or any other form of bigotry in their contributions.
- Media is up to interpretation, and no matter how hard one may try, bias will still happen. However, it is a necessity for contributors to try to recognize their biases towards certain interpretations, and try to limit their expression in pages that try to be objective! Or at least source them :)
Sourcing
Merrily has massive amounts of content, much of which isn't public (without request) and most of which can't be found online. This means that a lot of the sources here are leaning on good faith. Currently, the following scripts are acceptable as reference:
- Any published script or songbook which should be referenced as you would any book.
- Licensed librettos. Many of these are hard to come by, however these should be noted as licensed versions of the show and not published scripts. (IE: 1982 MTI LICENSED LIBRETTO)
- Early versions of the script should be labeled with the date on the script. (IE: MAY 1981 WORKING DRAFT)
- Modified production scripts. (IE: ROUNDABOUT 2019 REVISED SCRIPT)
Any script sources should get a page going over the notable differences from other versions of the show.
Paratextual content is a little more complicated. Paratextual content like books, interviews, or documentaries should be referenced normally. However, for example, George Furth wrote extensive notes on Merrily We Roll Along, many of which are not dated. These can be sourced as: George Furth, notes (approximate date.) However, I ask that you send User:Birdtime an email before using any unpublished paratextual content as a reference.
Legal recorded productions should be sourced as you regularly would source a movie or YouTube video. Don't source bootlegs, and for the love of God, don't link them, however, you may reference a production that was not officially recorded with "MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG. [PRODUCTION NAME] (DATE)"
