Charles Kringas is a secondary protagonist in Merrily We Roll Along (Sondheim/Furth)[1] He is primarily called Charley, and is named after Hal Prince's son.[2]

Charley is a lyricist and playwright. He is married to Evelyn and is close friends with Mary Flynn and very close friends with Franklin Shepard, whom he went to high school with. He was born sometime between 1935 and 1938timeline in Chicago.

Charley wrote lyrics for Frankly Frank, Musical Husbands, and Sweet Sorrow1985. Notably, he wrote the lyrics for the Musical Husbands song, Good Thing Going. He and Frank collaborated to write the never finished musical, Take A Left1985, based on Charley's play called Pretty Politics. He wins a Pulitzer for one of his plays in the late 70s.

He was originated on Broadway by Lonny Price.
